BERLIN. March 2018.

I’m Vincenzo Salvia, an Italian composer and producer working in synthwave, italo disco and horrorsynth. I was born and grew up in Potenza, in the south of Italy.

The first drum kit I owned was a set of straw chairs in my mother’s kitchen. I played them with wooden spoons, and the song was always “In the Air Tonight”, that fill, over and over, until the straw gave out. The chairs were replaced with wooden ones, which held up better. Then a keyboard turned up in the house and the chairs were left alone.

At 14 I moved to guitar and spent the next years in rock and metal bands, playing live around Italy. Small venues.

In 2004 electronic music took over. I released my first solo work under the name Schatten, and even then everything leaned ’80s. In the summer of 2011 I dropped the pseudonym and started writing as Vincenzo Salvia, composing for TV commercials, mostly for Mediaset, and for soundtracks. My first synthwave album, Voyage, came out in 2012.

LONDON. July 2019.

By 2017, I had moved to Milan.
Then came the European shows: Berlin, London, Malta. In 2019 my track “Italian Gigolo” was featured in the first episode of Stranger Things 3, which is how most people found me.

I live in Monza now. I’m still writing synthwave, italo disco and horrorsynth, and there’s new music on the way. Radio, Spotify, wherever you listen. I’ll see you there.
